Lancaster 4th of July Parade - Weather Concerns posted 07.03.16

With the pending threat of rain for the Lancaster 4th of July Parade, we will do all we can to allow the Parade to go forward. That said, we do not want to have any unsafe situations, or encourage those to come to the Parade, be in the parade or watch the Parade if they feel unsafe in doing so.  The final decision to be in the Parade belongs to the Parade entrants and the corresponding spectators.

If we encounter Thunder and/or Lightning during the Parade setup, we will ask everyone to seek shelter immediately.  If the parade starts and then we hear or see Thunder and/or Lightning, the Parade entrants should act wisely and accordingly.

There is not an opportunity to delay the Parade until another day, due to the schedule of the Fairgrounds and the inability to get the volunteers and safety forces to return at another time. It may be possible to delay the start of the Parade from the scheduled 10:00 am start on the 4th. However, a delay also creates problems for the same volunteers, safety forces as well as other support personnel.  Such a possible delay might be possible, but would be made the morning of the Parade. Similarly, the Parade could be cancelled due to the actual weather that morning as well as the forecasted weather for that morning.
